A Tortola resident who came to Jamaica recently to wed remains in hospital after he was robbed, then chased and shot while at a house in the Old Pasley area of Palmers Cross, Clarendon, THE STAR understands.
Information reaching our news desk is that the injured man has been undergoing treatment at a hospital in the parish.
THE STAR gathered that he had been living in the British Virgin Islands for several years although he is originally from St Vincent and the Grenadines.
According to www.bvinews.com, at the time he came to Jamaica, he was employed to a supermarket.
The website also confirmed that he was in Jamaica to get married and that the incident unfolded about 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8.
When THE STAR contacted the Area Three police, which encompasses the parishes of St Elizabeth, Manchester and Clarendon, the incident was confirmed.
According to police reports, the man and other persons were at a house in the Old Pasley area of Palmers Cross, Clarendon, when gunmen entered and robbed him of cash and other valuables.
He allegedly attempted to escape and was shot.
He was taken to the hospital where he was admitted and is being treated.
Since the incident, several calls have been channelled to our newsroom, from seemingly concerned British Virgin Islands residents with knowledge of the incident.
The Clarendon police investigations are ongoing.
