Six arrested for fraud

Three of the six persons arrested late last week by the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Task Force (MOCA) have been formally charged for breaches of the Law Reform (Fraudulent Transactions) (Special Provisions) Act.

They are:

Craig McFarlane, 28-year-old businessman, of Hagley Park Road, Kingston 10.

Denroy Russell, 21-year-old salesman, of Hellshire, St Catherine.

Roshane Forbes, 20-year-old unemployed, of Hellshire, St Catherine.

Reports are that on May 29, 2014, the three men were arrested after immigration officers at the Norman Manley International Airport intercepted an American citizen who was reportedly transporting money for them.

Consequently, members of the MOCA and the Flying Squad carried out an operation in sections of Kingston and St Catherine last Friday as the probe intensified.

The men were formally charged on Tuesday and will appear before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court today.

Since the beginning of May, eight persons have been arrested in four separate operations at the island's two main airports. Five have since been formerly charged.

Members of the public having any information that may assist MOCA, should contact the task force at 906-6318 or by email at moca@jcf.gov.jm or visit their Facebook page at http://ift.tt/SckGoh.
