Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Glenmore Hinds, has stated that the investigation into the two prisoners escape at the Horizon Adult Remand Centre on Spanish Town road on Sunday is well under way.

Yesterday, the senior cop sought to assure the public that the process of investigation had already started, despite the men remaining at large.

He also could not reveal at which stage the investigation had reached.

The two, 18-year-old Casheen Peart, otherwise known as 'Nine Star', of a Church Lane district in St Thomas, and 22-year-old Omar Creary of August Town, Kingston 6, escaped, a source revealed, after metal window louvres were removed from the front section of the facility, enabling them to breach the perimeter wall.

The source revealed that the incident took place sometime between 10:30 and 11 a.m. and that since then, security had been strengthened at the institution.

In the meantime, calls to the senior members of the Department of Correctional Services were unsuccessful as they were all out of office.

It was also discovered that one of the senior deputy officers was out conducting an investigation at the remand centre yesterday.

A team from the Criminal Investigation Branch also visited the location.
