The case involving two St James men, who were reportedly held with over two pounds of cocaine last March, stalled in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court following the revelation that cellular phone information was outstanding from the prosecution's case file.
Hugh Roach, of Westgate Hills in Montego Bay, and Kirk Levey, from Porto Bello are charged with possession of and dealing in two pounds and 3.24 ounces of cocaine. They return to court tomorrow.
It is alleged that on March 6, 2013, about 5:20 p.m., police on operation in Westgate Hills saw Roach and Levey on the front patio of Roach's house.
Roach attempted to hide a plastic bag under his chair, but the bag was retrieved and found to contain a rectangular package wrapped in masking tape, which when cut open, was found to contain a white powdery substance resembling cocaine. They were arrested.
"The investigating officer does not have the list with the phone numbers of the officers in the case as the officers no longer operate as a unit," clerk of the court Natalie Malcolm told presiding magistrate Carolyn Tie.
"How much time will the investigating officer need to get the numbers?" asked Tie.
"She says that by next week she will be able to get all the numbers," Malcolm answered after conferring briefly with the investigating officer.
Tie subsequently set the case for mention tomorrow.
