A man who allegedly used his licensed firearm to shoot at his wife was granted bail in the sum of $250,000 when he appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.
He is Humphrey Barriffe of McCooks Pen, St Catherine.
When the matter came up in court, the accused man's lawyer, Earl Hamilton, made a successful bail application.
He told the court that Barriffe was not a flight risk and that he cooperated fully with the investigations and would return for his trial.
Argument
Bail was granted on condition that he surrender his travel documents and appear in the Corporate Area Gun Court on May 3.
Allegations are that on April 6, 2014, about 7:45 p.m., the accused was at home with his family when an argument developed. The accused man reportedly drew his 9mm Glock pistol and fired three rounds at his wife.
The matter was subsequently reported to the Spanish Town police and Barriffe went to the station and was held. Following a question and answer session, he was charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition, assault at common-law and shooting with intent.
