A woman who was told to pay $60,000 or serve six months in prison will not have a forgery conviction against her name after her lawyer begged Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey for a second chance.
Charged with forgery, conspiracy to defraud and uttering forged documents, is 24-year-old Kimolee Roberts, who was fingerprinted.
The court heard that the accused conspired with others and presented fraudulent documents to the German Embassy purporting that she had a certain amount of money in her bank account.
Roberts' lawyer, who was grateful that his client was only fined $60,000, also pressed RM Pusey to not have the conviction recorded as he said that she is a progressive young female who deserves a second chance.
