Home-made firearms seized


One man has been taken into police custody following the seizure of two home-made firearms in separate incidents on Sunday.


The weapons were seized in Kentucky district, Bluefields, Westmoreland, and in south St Elizabeth, near Junction, on Sunday.


Reports from the Junction police are that about 6:20 a.m., they were alerted to the area by residents after explosions were heard. On their arrival, they conducted a search and the weapon found. No one was arrested in connection with the seizure.


And in Westmoreland, the Bluefields police said that they responded to a report of dispute between two men about 1 p.m. Upon their arrival, one of the men was searched and the firearm with a 12-gauge cartridge found in his possession.


He was taken into custody in connection with the seizure, however, his identity is being withheld pending further investigations, the police said.
