The suspect in the murders of two 15-year-old boys had his matter set for preliminary hearing when he appeared in the Santa Cruz Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Alton Baker of Thornton district, St Elizabeth, is set to reappear in court on August 7 on murder charges. He is charged with the murders of Ashnell Coke and Desrick Williams.

The bodies of the boys were discovered with multiple chop wounds in bushes in the Thornton district on January 9.

At the time when the murders were committed, Baker was out on bail in relation to another wounding incident in Manchester.

In addition, shortly before being charged for the murders, Baker was charged with wounding with intent following an incident on November 25 where he injured another man, who is also from Thornton.

Baker, who also appeared in court on the charge of wounding with intent, had that case set for mention on July 14.
