Two men who the St Catherine police said were on their Most Wanted List were shot and killed in an alleged shoot-out yesterday.

One of those killed has been identified as Michael Morgan, otherwise called Tulus of Job Lane, Spanish Town, St Catherine.

The police have seized three illegal guns as a result of the incident.

Reports are that about 2:30 p.m., police went into the New Nursery community in search of wanted persons.

Upon the approach of a premises, the team was greeted with gunfire. This resulted in a shootout. After it subsided, Morgan and the other man were found with what appeared to be gunshot wounds.

several murders

Police said two 9MM Pistols, one revolver and one AK47 magazine, were seized from the men.

They were taken to the Spanish Town Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

The police hierarchy had labeled "Tulus" as wanted for several murders and shootings in St Catherine.

"Mr Morgan was involved in a number of murders in Kitson Town, Job Lane and other sections of St Catherine. In fact, he is responsible for the shooting and injury of a policeman earlier this week," Senior Superintendent of Police Marlon Nesbeth said.

He said that the police remained resolute against crime and would rather apprehend than have confrontation.

The police said that Morgan had escaped from the Manchester police last year.
