Detectives from the St Catherine Major Investigation Task Force (MIT) are yet to make a breakthrough with their investigations into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of an entertainer in the parish on Monday.
The deceased man has been identified as 24-year-old Steve Smith of Beacon Avenue, Spanish Town, St Catherine.
The police's Corporate Communications Unit reports that on January 26, about 8:30 p.m., Smith and a group of persons were standing along a section of Beacon Avenue when an armed man walked up and opened fire. Smith was shot several times. The others in the group escaped unscathed.
THE STAR understands that Smith was shot dead outside his home.
No motive has yet been established for the attack.
Anyone with information is being urged to contact the Spanish Town police at (876) 984-3164, the police 119 emergency number, or the nearest police station.
Investigations continue.
