Banks, customers affected by down websites

Some persons trying to access the websites of the National Commercial Bank (NCB) and the Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) were met with error messages yesterday as the websites appeared to have been down.

Several complainants have been made by users that they have been unable to conduct business or view the websites because of this error.

When both websites were visited, an error message read, "Error: Page cannot be displayed. Please contact your service provider for more details," appeared on both websites. Another message redirecting individuals to another website was also experienced.

When both banks were contacted, they were aware of the fault, but said investigations would take place to find out the cause of these errors.

On NCB's Facebook page, in response to one of the comments made, the bank told the user that they were experiencing technical challenges and that their technical team was working with their service providers to have the issues resolved in short order.

The BOJ also said that they were also working with service providers to resolve the matter.

By press time, both websites had returned to working order.
