Accused foul-mouthed woman offered bail

A woman, who is alleged to have used abusive language to the police who tried to apprehend her, was offered bail in the sum of $5,000 in her own surety in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

Shashanna Brown is charged with malicious destruction of property, assaulting a constable and using abusive and calumnious language.

The court heard that on the day of the incident, Brown, after giving a cell phone to a woman in a bar, was accosted by the police. During a heated exchange between herself and the police, she is alleged to have been hit in the face.

Brown claimed in court that she was abused by the police. In court, the prosecutor said she tore the shirt of the constable and used strong language to the police.

Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey offered her bail with surety and ordered that she return for trial on March 11.
