The Spanish Town police have taken a woman into custody on fraud charges after she allegedly used the name of a woman who died two years ago to bail a man.
THE STAR was informed that the woman was held by the police on Monday.
She reportedly used a national identification card with the deceased person's name with her photograph and also a land title in the name of the dead person to secure bail.
The crime was unfolded when the man, who was on bail in the sum of $150,000, failed to reappear in court.
As a result, a bench warrant was issued for the man's arrest and that of his surety.
When bailiffs from St Catherine went to the address of the surety on record, the team was greeted by a relative who informed them that her mother died years ago and bears no resemblance to the picture on the record.
Further investigation took the police to another community where the accused woman was picked up.
The accused is set to face charges of false declaration, possession and uttering forged documents.
Meanwhile, investigators said other persons are being sought in connection with the case.
