WESTERN BUREAU:
A St Catherine man accused of chopping his girlfriend's father during a dispute last October had his case set for hearing in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on April 30.
Cabinetmaker Ryan Thompson, 31, is charged with the unlawful wounding of Roystan Richards.
However, Richards, and his daughter, Roxanne Richards, are also before the court for assault arising from the same incident.
Allegations are that on October 2, 2013, Thompson and Roystan Richards were involved in a dispute during which Thompson used a machete to chop Richards on the arm and leg. However, in a previous court appearance, Thompson contended that Richards had attacked him first.
Yesterday, Clerk of the Court Natalie Malcolm told Resident Magistrate Carolyn Tie that the prosecution had received the medical certificate in the case against Thompson.
Attorney-at-law Chumu Parris told the court that Thompson "has another matter in which he is the complainant, with the same persons (Roystan and Roxanne Richards)."
Tie subsequently set a date for the case of all three to be heard.
