Cop accused of beating prostitute may face departmental charges


A police special constable, who allegedly beat up a prostitute following an altercation over payment for her services, may be facing the possibility of departmental charges.


THE STAR understands that the female complainant is reluctant to pursue the matter.


It's further understood that the complainant failed to turn up for an identification parade and has expressed that she no longer has an interest in the case.


With this development, it is now up the Jamaica Constabulary Force to determine if there are possible departmental charges which can be brought in the matter.


The special constable is said to be attached to the St Catherine North Division.

It's reported that during a recent visit to Port Henderson Road, more popularly known as 'Back Road', in Portmore, St Catherine, the special constable allegedly met the complainant and decided to purchase sex from her.


It's further reported that they agreed on a price for her services, where after a room was rented and they carried out the act.


A dispute reportedly developed between the policeman and the complainant after the act was completed.


It was said that during an altercation, the policeman reportedly physically assaulted the complainant.


A report was filed with the police and the special constable taken into custody.
