Controversial Jamaican dancehall artiste, Tommy Lee Sparta, was denied entry into Dominica last night after arriving in a private jet at the Melville Hall Airport, THE STAR understands.
According to http://ift.tt/1hiyYMK, Tommy Lee came out of the jet and went inside the airport's terminal but the authorities denied further entry.
He was slated to perform in Dominica last night.
The main organiser of the concert, Cabral Douglas, confirmed reports that the artiste was at the airport and had been denied entry.
An attorney, Tehani Behanzin, who tried to assist in the matter, has been denied access to him, according to Douglas.
It is unknown why Tommy Lee was denied entry. There was also a contingent of police at the airport.
THE STAR gathered that members of the religious fraternity, who allege his music promotes violence, have harshly criticised Tommy Lee's performance in Dominica.
Yesterday when THE STAR spoke with Tommy Lee's manager, Heavy D, in Dominica, he confirmed that the artiste had been denied entry.
Heavy D said: "We are presently here at the airport trying to gather from the authorities why we have been denied entry ... the pilot of the jet is here trying to negotiate with them because he says he is not going anywhere. It's just pure confusion so we are trying to get some answers. This is a CARICOM country so we don't understand."
