A man accused of assaulting a woman with a liquor bottle had his bail extended in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
He is Devon Smith, charged with unlawful wounding.
The crown alleged that Smith and the complainant got into an altercation which resulted in him reportedly punching her in the face. Subsequently, it was reported that Smith attacked the complainant with a bottle and used it to smash her in her forehead.
"Me and her was seeing each other and me tell her say it finish. Me and mi wife was living upstairs," Smith said.

Smith pleaded not guilty to the charges, explaining that he acted in self-defence. He alleged that the complainant received injuries from him protecting himself. He said the complainant lunged at him resulting in her colliding into a grille at the premises during the fracas.
"Mi never use a bottle, Your Honour," he said.
Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey responded: "She couldn't lick up in a grille, and get cut up there so, unless she was doing pupalick."
He was ordered to return to court on March 31 for trial. A fingerprint order was also made.
