A senior government employee attached to the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries was shot and killed by gunmen at his home in St Catherine on Tuesday night, THE STAR has learnt.
Dead is 56-year-old Agricultural Economist, Dennis Ffrench.
According to police reports, unknown assailants pounced upon Ffrench and his wife after they arrived home.
Further reports are that the couple was robbed and the gunmen reportedly took Ffrench's licensed firearm.
He was subsequently shot by his attackers and was pronounced dead at hospital.
The police said their investigation continues.
