Woman on stabbing rap to face court February


A woman who is accused of using an ice pick to stab a teenage girl in the face is to return to court for mention in February of next year.


Pleading not guilty to unlawful wounding is 50-year-old Elaine Gardener from Spanish Town Road, Kingston 11.


The court heard that on November 26, around 6:30 p.m., the complainant and the accused were involved in an altercation, along Spanish Town Road, and the accused allegedly used an ice pick to stab the complainant in her face, causing a wound that bled.


Gardener denied the allegations, claiming she did not harm the 16-year-old complainant. "Your Honour! She are lying! She are lying! I was passing at a little space and I barely bounce har and there was a fight and she hit me. But I neva hit har, she, har aunty, cousin, the whole a dem come out with cutlass," a very dramatic Gardener explained.


Due to an outstanding medical report, Gardener is to return to court for mention on February 9, 2015.
