Thief swallows chain after robbery

Gets two years in prison

A repeat offender was sentenced to two years' imprisonment yesterday in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court for stealing a chain and swallowing it.

Charged with robbery is 20-year-old Omar Yorke. He pleaded guilty to the offence.

The exhibit was available in court, however, it was not disclosed how it was retrieved.

Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey asked Yorke, "How many times have you been charged before, and for what, the same thing?"

He said, "Two times, one of dem is for something mi neven know bout, yes, stealing, but mi never know nothing bout that one."

RM Pusey then asked Yorke, "Have you ever been to prison?"

However, before he could answer, she handed down a two-year sentence for the crime.

A fingerprint order was also made against Yorke.
