Investigators from the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA), and the Revenue Protection Division (RPD) are to question three persons detained today in relation to an ongoing probe into tax evasion, tax fraud, breaches of the Cybercrimes Act and lottery scamming.
According to MOCA, these matters relate to that of 37-year-old Christopher Moore, a computer operator and information technician of Tax Administration Jamaica, who was arrested in June.
Moore was charged under the Cybercrimes Act for unauthorised access to computer programmes or data and unauthorised interception of computer function or data and cheating the revenue.
MOCA and the RPD today undertook a series of operations in St Catherine and parts of the Corporate Area.
"Given the complexity of this case and the magnitude of the fraud, we are paying close attention to this on-going investigation," said RPD Commissioner Major Johanna Lewin.
Meanwhile, the Director General of MOCA, Colonel Desmond Edwards, said the agency is working with its partners in pursuit of those suspected of being involved in corrupt activities, particularly persons employed within the public sector.
