No motive has yet been established for the death of former physical education teacher and assistant track coach at Camperdown High School, 38-year-old Claude Palmer, who was shot and killed on Tuesday.

Palmer, who is of a Mountain View address, was reportedly selling farm produce in Rollington Town, when two men on a motorcycle rode up. It is alleged that the pillion passenger opened fire hitting him several times.

He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigations continue.

Meanwhile, an administrator at Camperdown said that Palmer left the school over a year or two ago. She stated that members of the school population were made aware of Palmer's death by word of mouth in the community.

She added that during his time as a student at Camperdown, he played Manning Cup and represented the school in track and field.
