Man fined $25,000 for bullet

A man who claimed he found a bullet lying in a garbage pile and took it up out of curiosity was fined $25,000 or six months' imprisonment yesterday in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.

Charged with possession of illegal ammunition is Christopher Snowball.

He pleaded guilty to the offence.

Snowball said, "I found it in a garbage pile in my lane."

RM Pusey said, "Next time you leave rubbish where rubbish belongs. What else did you see in the garbage?"

"I don't know, wasn't really taking notice. I was only curious", said Snowball.

RM Pusey said, "Why didn't you take up some more of the garbage, you know what they say about curiousity - it kills the cat."

The senior magistrate also told Snowball that one single bullet could kill multiple persons.

A fingerprint order was also made.
