A primary school accountant who has been accused of signing several fictitious cheques on behalf of his institution had his bail extended in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.
Damian Connell, 33, from Bull Bay, St Andrew, has been charged with forgery and larceny as a servant. He returns to court today.
Connell who has pleaded guilty, is to repay a balance of $133,000 after making a $50,000 payment.
Allegations are that Connell was employed to the Rosseau Primary School as an accountant where he signed several bogus cheques amounting to $183,000.
The court heard that in April, the school was called to verify one of the fictitious cheques and subsequently put a stop to it as the institution had no knowledge of the transaction.
It is reported that an investigation was launched and it was discovered that the accused had signed other fake cheques on behalf of the school.
