Bail was denied in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday for two policemen, who are accused of killing a man on Sevens Road in May Pen, Clarendon.
Special Constable Shannon-Ceon Allen and Sergeant Mario Taylor have been charged with murder.
Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey denied bail on the basis of safeguarding due process of the matter, and to eliminate the possibility of interference in the case.
The Crown alleged that on February 28, the policemen allegedly entered a room where Adolphus 'Big Eye' Reader, 25, was fatally shot during a confrontation. A pistol with three live rounds was reportedly seized during the incident.
Witnesses said the police had a significant conversation with the man before shooting him.
In court, it was brought to light that spent shells from the pistol found at Reader's killing match spent shells found at the murder of Adif Washington, 36, who was killed at the May Pen Hospital.
The attorney representing both men, Carolyn Reid-Cameron, had argued that the men would face the court when called upon to do so. She further argued that there was no direct link between the spent shell casings outside the hospital and her clients.
However, Resident Magistrate (RM) Judith Pusey countered, saying there was in fact a link.
The attorney then urged the RM not to yield to the prosecution and its bigger case for which the men were alleged to be a part, but the RM said she could not close her eyes to the bigger picture.
The matter was set for preliminary enquiry on June 23.
