Man accused of killing girlfriend faces court

A man who allegedly accosted his girlfriend, dragging her into a nearby lane and stabbing her to death, was further remanded when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Charged with murder is Vandem Lloyd Daley.

The crown alleged that Daley and the woman had been in a relationship for some time. It is believed that Daley was of the opinion that the deceased was being unfaithful in their relationship.

The court heard that vendors nearby, in downtown Kingston, witnessed Daley approached the woman, before hugging her, forcing her into a side street and later stabbing her several times.

Subsequent to the brutal stabbing, things turned bizarre when Daley was reported to have lunged into the path of a moving vehicle, possibly attempting suicide.

In court, Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey ordered Daley further remanded until June 9, pending a mention hearing.
