19-y-o robber gets 12 months

A nineteen-year-old man was sentenced to 12 months in prison after he was found guilty of robbery charges when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Pleading guilty to robbery with aggravation is Dwayne Woodster, otherwise called 'Buggy', of Kingston 11 and Windsor Heights, St Catherine, addresses.

It is alleged that on May 2, around 4:05 p.m., the accused and three other men held up the complainant and robbed him of $48,000 in West Parade, downtown Kingston, and escaped on foot in the area.

The police were summoned and Woodster was accosted.

Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey asked the accused if he has ever appeared before the court before, to which he responded yes, and for a similar offence.

He was berated by the senior resident magistrate who then sentenced him to a year in prison.
