A St Catherine man who reportedly killed a man and buried him at the front of his yard was sentenced to five years' imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the St Catherine Circuit Court.
He is Headley Barracks, a 64-year-old labourer, of Sligoville district.
When the matter came before the court last week, the accused man told the court that he was guilty of killing the now deceased, Thomas Blidgen.
His lawyer, Roy Stewart, then asked the court to be lenient on the sentence seen that the accused has been in custody for four years and has not wasted the court's time.
He was sentenced after the Crown offered no-evidence against his common-law wife Dora Green, who was subsequently freed.
The Crown led evidence that in April 2010, Blidgen and the accused man got into a dispute and was parted by neighbours.
It is revealed that later the same day Barracks attacked Blidgen and killed him and with the assistance of others buried his body in a hole at the front of his yard.
The police received reports on the matter after persons reported Blidgen missing. A search was launched which resulted in the gruesome discovery.
