No bail for accused fraudster

A man accused of fallaciously offering a house for rent was further remanded when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

Charged with obtaining money by means of false pretence is Gallimore McDonald.

The Crown alleged that McDonald offered a two-bedroom house, which was purported to be owned by him, for rent to the female complainant. Subsequently, it is believed McDonald collected a sum of money from the woman under the guise that she would be able to rent the property.

"Indeed, I have a house for rent, and I give 10 days for her to move in and she change her mind. I told her that the money was ready for her, Your Honour." McDonald explained.

Upon hearing this, the presiding judge, Resident Magistrate Simone Wolfe-Reece, ordered the accused further remanded until June 3 pending a mention hearing.
