Ganja in vagina gets Jamaican time in Barbados prison

A Jamaican drug mule will spend the next two years in a Barbados prison after she was held importing marijuana recently THE STAR has learnt.


Our news team understands that 41-year-old Donna Ann-Marie Barnes-Peart will be housed at HMP Dodds prison facility for importation of marijuana.


According to www.nationnews.com, Barnes-Peart appeared at the Oistins Magistrate's Court last Friday and pleaded guilty to possession of two pounds of cannabis, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and importation.


The Jamaican national was fined BBD$24,000 (J$1,328,157) for importation or two years in prison.


The fine was not paid, she was convicted, reprimanded and discharged on the remaining charges.


Barnes-Peart was arrested at the Grantley Adams International Airport on Monday, May 5.


THE STAR gathered that police interviewed her after she cleared Immigration.


Barnes-Peart was referred to a medical facility where she passed out 50 packets containing cannabis and a cylindrical shaped package was also retrieved from her vagina.
