Following a quadruple murder in St James yesterday, the police high command has signalled its intentions to combat the increase in fatalities, and have instituted the transfer of a senior cop to help with those efforts.

Mourning and shock continue to grip the folks of Richmond Hill in Bickersteth, St James, following the murder of four people.

They are Rihanna Blake, a student at Barracks Road Primary School and her mother Lois Watson, 28, Peter Scott, 26 and Kemali Walker, 23.

Reports are that the bodies were found in a house yesterday after a family friend visited about 7 a.m. It's understood that residents heard gunshots between 2 and 2:30 in the morning.

THE WEEKEND STAR gathered that a door to the house was allegedly kicked open.

Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent Steve McGregor, in charge of the Kingston Western Division, is to retake charge of the St James division.

He previously served as head of the division from 2007-2009.

Police Commissioner Dr Carl Williams said the move is to strengthen the command in St James and to ensure that murder hotspots are given urgent attention.
