Man pleads guilty to wounding teen

A St Elizabeth man pleaded guilty to housebreaking with intent, wounding with intent and malicious destruction of property when he appeared in the Balaclava court yesterday.

On January 21, about 8 a.m., Gary Lewis, a 35-year-old farmer from Bull Savannah, broke into a house in the district, where the 19-year-old victim lives with his family.

The teen heard sounds and went to investigate, when he saw Lewis in his house. A struggle ensued and Lewis stabbed the teen in the side of his neck. During the struggle, items in the house were damaged.

The police were called, and Lewis was identified by the teen. He was subsequently arrested and charged. He has been in custody since.

Lewis will be taken back to court on April 14 for sentencing.
