Peaceful CHAMPS

Cops say no reports of criminal activities up to last night

Up to press time last evening, the Stadium Police said there had been no reported acts of violence by students since the start of the 2015 ISSA/GraceKennedy Championships on Tuesday.

"Nothing so far. It has been peaceful," a constable with whom THE STAR spoke to at the station, said.

A 'Peace for Champs' campaign was launched in 2008 by Senior Superintendent Terrence Bent, in an attempt to reduce the level of violence in some of the top rival schools - after a series of incidents.

When asked if there had been any reports of vehicular break-ins at the National Stadium, the constable stated that none had been reported.

"Thus far, there has been none. I am anticipating that when patrons are going home, there will be," he said.
