A St Catherine man who allegedly fondled a woman and said "yuh fat eeh" was granted bail when he appeared last Friday in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court in St Catherine.

When the case was mentioned before Resident Magistrate Natalee Brooks, a successful bail application was made by the man's attorney, Earl Hamilton. In applying for bail, Hamilton said his client was a victim of circumstances. He said his client was a good citizen who had no previous conviction and was a fit candidate for bail.

The condition of his bail is that he reports to the Spanish Town police once weekly and reappear on May 25.

Allegations are that in early February, the complainant went to a health facility where the accused man worked. He reportedly made advances at her which she spurned. The complainant said that on another occasion, the accused allegedly grabbed her pubic region and commented on how fat she was.

The woman went back on another occasion and got into a dispute with the accused, who allegedly punched her.

She subsequently reported both matters to the police, and following an investigation he was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, and indecent assault.
