One of the six girls who police said attacked another in a McDonald's fast-food outlet in Brooklyn, New York, recently, was apprehended last weekend while in Atlanta about to leave the USA on a flight to Jamaica.

Fifteen-year-old Ariana Taylor was attacked and beaten even as several other teenagers and adults stood by and watched. She reportedly suffered a concussion as well as bruises and contusions to her body. The incident was caught on camera and went viral.

Assault and robbery

Following the incident, police arrested a 16-year-old girl who they said is the ringleader. She was charged with gang assault and robbery and is being held on a US$500,000 bond. Reports said she has been arrested several times in the past for crimes including attacking a pregnant woman and even her own grandmother.

As police began to round up the other suspects in the beating that went viral, the authorities in Atlanta were alerted to the teenage suspect's travel plans and she was apprehended, reports said, mere moments before flying off to Jamaica.

Two other suspects were eventually taken into custody on the weekend, including another 16-year-old who turned herself into the police last Saturday and has been charged with similar offences.
