Cops accused of abducting, robbing man in custody

Two policemen who allegedly abducted and robbed a man in Denham Town, west Kingston, on Sunday, have been taken into custody.

Their identities have not been released, but police sources say both are attached to the Kingston West Division.

Investigators said the man was held up at gunpoint and forced into a vehicle reportedly driven by the two cops where he was robbed.

However, according to one investigator, the man managed to escape and flagged down a passing motor vehicle.

accosted

"They accosted the men and that's when they found out they were policemen and they were taken into custody," the investigator said.

A statement released yesterday by the Corporate Communications Unit of the Jamaica Constabulary Force confirmed that the two policemen were "arrested in connection with an alleged case of robbery and abduction" but gave no details.

Investigators said they could be formally charged and placed before the courts this week.
