Nine months imprisonment was handed down on Friday in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court to a man who told the court that he bought a stolen watch for $200, after being charged with robbery related offences.
Charged with robbery and aggravation is Junior Franklin. He pleaded guilty to receiving stolen goods but denied the aggravation allegations.
"I am only guilty of receiving stolen goods," said Franklin.
The court was told that on the day in question, Franklin stole a watch, silver necklace and an envelope containing money.
Franklin told the court, "I bought it (watch) for $200."
Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey said, "Not even the kiddies watch sell for that", before she turned to the complainant asking, "Is that the man who robbed you?".
The complainant then acknowledged that it was Franklin who robbed her saying, "Yes Ma'am."
A fingerprint order was also made against Franklin.
