The long delay of a murder trial has not gone unnoticed by Justice Lennox Campbell who expressed concerns about the case that has been on the St Catherine Circuit Court's roster for more than eight years.
The views were expressed in the murder case of Vema Duhaney, whose headless body was found on March 19, 2006 in bushes in Sligoville, St Catherine.
"The case has been on the roster for a number of years and it needs to start. Therefore, by Wednesday, I expect solid reasons to go forward," Justice Campbell said.
Defence attorney, Valrie Neita-Robertson, had asked that the matter be put off until October, but the court would have none of it.
Meanwhile, investigating officer Detective Inspector Derrick Ball told the court that the witnesses have always been present.
Richard Duhaney's bail was extended until Wednesday and the witnesses were bound over.
Richard Duhaney was brought before the court following a thorough investigation by police which alleged that he killed his wife.
The investigators have tendered DNA and other scientific evidence.
He has maintained his innocence throughout his numerous court appearances.
