Woman arrested for alleged prostitution


A 36-year-old St Ann woman has been charged for living off the earnings of prostitution, following her arrest at a nightclub in Wire Fence district, Trelawny, on Sunday, while a nightclub operator was also arrested and charged for breaches under the Spirit Licence Act.


Reports from the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Intellectual Property Unit of the Counter Terrorism and Organised Crime Division are that about 1 a.m., a team carried out an operation at a nightclub in Albert Town, Trelawny, where the operator was cited for breaching the Spirit Licence Act.


About two hours later, during a second operation at another nightclub in Ulster Spring in the parish; one female was arrested and charged for being involved in prostitution. The operator of that club reportedly fled the scene shortly after the arrival of the lawmen. He is currently being sought by the police for questioning.


Investigations continue.
