Do not publish names says RM in Kartel trial

A magistrate has barred the media from publishing the names and other identifying information for the remaining witnesses in the corruption trial of the juror accused of trying to bribe his peers in the Vybz Kartel murder trial.

Resident Magistrate Maxine Ellis made it clear she did not want to interfere with the freedom of the press, but explained that there are "certain sensitive issues" she has to take into consideration.

"I must indicate that the court is hereby ordering that there should be no publication of the identity of witnesses for the remainder of the trial," Ellis ordered.

"Identifying information meaning name, address and place of employment. Anything that will allow people to identify them," she sought to clarify.

Livingston Cain, who served on the 11-member jury that convicted Kartel and his four co-accused, is on trial for six counts of perverting the course of justice and one count of conspiring to pervert the course of justice.
