Two Jamaican nationals were among nine undocumented migrants taken into custody as they tried to illegally enter the United States, via south Florida, yesterday, THE STAR has learnt.

According to CBS Miami, authorities picked up the Jamaican nationals, alongside seven others, including five Indians, one Bahamian, and a Haitian woman who were detained on Miami Beach.

THE STAR understands that the migrants reportedly arrived on a 26-foot Mako boat. It is reported that the illegal migrants are being questioned as part of a human smuggling investigation, Border Patrol officials said.

Border Patrol officials reported that the lone woman was taken to the hospital, but was later released. The others were reportedly taken into custody and brought to the US Border Patrol's station in Dania Beach for questioning.

Investigations continue.
