A St Catherine man is to sentenced in the St Catherine Circuit Court next month after he was found guilty last Thursday of seven counts of raping a seven-year-old child.
The jury retired for one hour and returned an unanimous verdict of guilty. The accused man was then ordered remanded by Justice Vivene Harris until March 6, 2015 when he is to be sentenced.
The allegations indicate that the complainant, who is now 10 years old, was being sexually molested by the accused since she was seven. The accused is said to have been in a relationship with complainant's mother at the time.
The allegations further indicate that an observation was made of the child's strange behaviour, and, following enquiries, it was revealed the accused constantly molested her.
A report was made to the police, and, following an investigation, the accused was charged with seven counts of rape.
