Julio Parkinson, accounting technician in the Pensions Unit of the Accountant General's Department, pleaded guilty to 44 counts of the offence of obtaining monies by means of false pretence.

Revenue Protection Division (RPD) Commissioner, Major (Ret'd) Johanna Lewin, said she was heartened by the cooperation and collaboration. She said the partnership between RPD and Major Organised Crime & Anticorruption Agency (MOCA) was solid proof of what can be achieved through joint effort and commitment to tackling corruption and protecting the revenue.

She added that the speed with which the investigation was conducted must be attributed to, not only the skills and dedication of the investigators, but the

support received from both internal and external entities, including the Accountant General's Department.

MOCA's Deputy Director General, Selvin Hay, said the guilty plea was as a direct result of comprehensive and diligent investigations by MOCA and RPD investigators and also professional case building and prosecution by each entities' respective legal teams.

Parkinson will be sentenced on Friday March 6, 2015.
