Gun allegedly pulled during fight

A fight between students of a St Thomas high school resulted in a gun being allegedly pulled by one of them during the brawl, which happened recently.

The incident is said to have occurred at the Morant Bay Transportation Centre, about 3:30 p.m.

The fight was based on an incident which transpired at the school and escalated at the bus centre.

"The allegations were that during the fight, a gun was drawn. However, none of the boys were pointed out and they are not owning to the fact that a gun was drawn," said head of the St Thomas police, Deputy Superintendent Charmaine Shand.

She continued that the two boys were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and another with assaulting police and resisting arrest.

"This information about gun came from persons who were in the park. It is basically hearsay," said the senior policewoman. When the school was contacted, an administrator said she heard talk that a taxi operator saw a student from the same school with a firearm.

The students are due before the court on March 12.

The senior policewoman also stated that students from the institution have been monitored in the bus centre based on activities which transpired in that location from September last year.
