Cops seek mother of foetus found near river


The police said a foetus, believed to be about 24 weeks old, was found on the bank of the Hope River in St Andrew on the weekend.


The police's Corporate Communications Unit said about 5:05, Saturday afternoon, residents found the foetus among debris and called the police. The foetus was found with the umbilical cord and afterbirth still attached.


The scene was processed and the foetus removed to the morgue.


The police are asking anyone with information that can assist with their investigation to call the Papine police at 927-2047, police 119 emergency number or the nearest police station.


Meanwhile, the decomposing body of Rudolph Roberts, who is believed to be in his late 70s, was found on Mount Salus Road, Red Hills, St Andrew, yesterday morning.


Reports from the Red Hills police are that about 10:33 a.m., residents smelt a foul odour coming from Roberts' house and summoned them. On their arrival, the body was found on its back in a bed. No marks of violence were seen.


The scene was processed and the body removed to the morgue.


Investigations continue.
