Dead dog lands two in court

The case involving a woman who received 22 stitches after an altercation with a man over a dead dog was set for mention in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

Charged with wounding with intent is Mark Bailey, who was fingerprinted.

The Crown alleges that on January 14, about 3:30 p.m., the complainant was at home when she told a relative of the accused that he could not bury his dead dog near to her window in the yard.

The accused later got involved and a dispute developed between himself and the complainant. It is alleged that he used a piece of stick to inflict a wound to the top of the complainant's head.

She spent three days in hospital.

In court, the accused told Senior Resident Magistrate (RM) Judith Pusey a different story. He told the RM that the fight developed over chairs that were put under a clothes line.

He also stated, "She is not a good girl. She is evil," which was met with much laughter in court.

Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey ordered that both parties return to court on March 31.
