traffic light needed. Residents call for light after children are injured in crash

Two children and an adult were injured in a motor vehicle crash at the corner of Duke and Charles Streets, near Gordon House, yesterday evening. They were quickly rushed to hospital in a taxi.

According to an eyewitness, the female motorist of a Nissan Prairie was heading across Duke and Charles streets, after passing Gordon House when her vehicle collided into a white Nissan motor car at the intersection. The white Nissan then collided into a concrete utility pole further tilting it.

Residents of the area lamented that there needed to be a traffic light erected at the intersection to lessen the amount of traffic accidents that happen there regularly. One man said that one had previously existed but was destroyed.

"What is needed is a stop light. A stop light was here before but it was hit down years ago. That hit down from before PJ Patterson was in power. Every Christmas somebody dead or seriously injured," he said.

Police arrived on the scene and took statements.
