The deadly Ebola virus may not be an epidemic on Jamaican soil just yet, but several of the island's people are concerned about its ramifications, as others ponder the true origin of the virus.

The Jamaican populace was seemingly shocked by news of the arrival of the virus in the United States in weeks gone by, leaving several in a state of angst as they hope, pray and work to keep the virus outside the island.

In the THE STAR's People's Opinion feature, tyre repair technician and father of six, Lloyd 'Shorty' McLeod, who hails from West Rural, St Andrew, sought to provide his attitude towards the virus.

"Mi feel like say a one a di plague weh Moses never did talk bout inna the bible," Shorty said. "It coulda be a form of population control too. Why it start a di mother country? Why is it that it start a Africa?" he pondered.

Being in the tyre repair business for over 40 years, McLeod, who started his Fix It and Forget It Tyre Repair enterprise located at 158 Molynes Road in St Andrew, further told our news team that he is fearful of the implications should the virus make a debut in the island.

Stay tuned for next week's segment of the People's Opinion, where the public voice their sentiments on varying topical issues.
