St Catherine most wanted nabbed

André Williams, STAR Writer

The most wanted man in St Catherine who has been implicated in the recent quadruple and triple killings, which rocked the parish, was nabbed yesterday along with his mother and two other persons, THE STAR understands.

Information reaching our news team is that the wanted man, 24-year-old Kemar Thompson, otherwise called 'Gatlin' or 'Spiderman', of Pineapple Lane, Bog Walk, has been linked to eight murders overall and several robberies and shootings in St Catherine.

THE STAR understands that he was picked up in the French Street area of Spanish Town.

In an operation led by Deputy Superintendent Meveral Smith, along with members of the St Catherine MIT, and members of OCID, the police swooped down on the Spanish Town-based premises shortly after midday and nabbed the suspect who has ignored calls from the police to turn himself in.

triple killing

Thompson has been implicated in the October 22 triple killing in Pineapple Lane in which 70-year-old traffic warden Matthew Taylor of Main Street, Linstead, St Catherine, 51-year-old Patrick Cummings and 35-year-old Warren Noland were gunned down.

The police have also stated that the man presently in their custody is also being investigated for the October 12 quadruple killing of the China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) workers.

The dead men from that incident are Courtney Cobourne, 38, of Gibraltar in the parish; Greg Harris, also of Gibraltar; Carlton Scott, 37, of Bowers, also in St Catherine; and Kirk Foote of Canaan district, St James.

THE STAR gathered as well that the scope of investigation surrounding Thompson goes beyond the recent killings.

Since he was transferred less than two months ago to the St Catherine MIT, DSP Smith has turned on the heat in the parish and yesterday was a case in point where the parish's most wanted was nabbed.

This development came at a time when the Police High Command is reportedly in the process of effecting some major transfers to nab more wanted men and tackle the crime problem.
