A Jamaican national has been sentenced to two and a half to six years in state prison for trafficking little under 10 pounds of ganja in Chester County, Pennsylvania, last Monday.
According to www.dailylocal.com, the Jamaican man, 43-year-old Garfield Winston Mairs of Pennsylvania, United States, was allegedly signalled to stop by state police after the lawmen noticed a faulty headlight on the Honda Civic motor car he was driving.
Subsequently, disobeying police orders, a physical altercation between Mairs and the officer ensued. Mairs was subsequently taken into custody. A search of the vehicle later uncovered 9.98 pounds of marijuana with an estimated value of US$30,000.

The Chester County Common Pleas judge reportedly told Mairs "I hope you are deported because you are not welcomed here," moments before the sentence was handed down.
Mairs was sentenced to two and a half to six years in prison for possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance in accordance with a guilty plea agreement worked out by prosecutors.
THE STAR understands that Mairs had a similar brush with the law in 2007 resulting in his arrest. He was found to be in possession of two pounds of ganja. Mairs is reported to have been at large for absconding bail since 2010, prior to his arrest last year.
